Frequently Asked Questions

Plain answers to the chiropractic questions new patients ask most — cost, insurance, safety, visit length, and what your first adjustment will feel like.

New to chiropractic, or just have questions before your first visit? Here are clear, no-pressure answers. Still not sure about something? Reach out — we’re always happy to help.

How much does chiropractic care cost?

It depends on your condition, how severe it is, and the kind of care plan you need — which is why we don't quote a number before an exam. After your consultation, we walk you through the recommended plan and the full cost before treatment begins, so there are no surprise bills. Scheduling a visit is the best way to get real numbers instead of a guess.

Does my health insurance cover chiropractic care?

Many health plans include some chiropractic coverage, but benefits vary widely — deductibles, copays, and visit limits differ from plan to plan, and some plans pay little or nothing. We can help verify your benefits before you start care so you know what your plan pays and what you would owe. Our payment options page covers the ways we accept payment.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Chiropractic care is widely considered a safe, conservative option when provided by a licensed chiropractor. The most common side effect is mild soreness after an adjustment, which usually fades within a day or two. We review your health history and examine you before any treatment, and if your situation calls for a different kind of provider, we say so and refer you.

Does getting adjusted hurt?

Most patients feel firm pressure rather than pain, and many describe feeling looser afterward. The popping sound is gas releasing from the fluid inside the joint — not bones cracking. If you're nervous or sore, tell us; gentle, low-force techniques can be used in place of traditional manual adjustments.

How often will I need to come in?

Every care plan is different. Some patients start with multiple visits a week while symptoms are acute, then taper off as they improve; others come in monthly to maintain progress. After your exam we recommend a schedule built around your condition and goals, and we reassess as you go — you're never locked into a plan that no longer fits.

How long do chiropractic appointments take?

Plan on roughly 15 to 30 minutes for your first visit, which includes a consultation and exam. Once your care plan is in place, follow-up visits usually run much shorter — often 5 to 10 minutes — because the evaluation work is already done. We work hard to keep wait times short and visits efficient.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

In most cases, no — you can schedule directly with us. Chiropractors are licensed as direct-access providers, so a physician referral usually isn't required to be seen. Some insurance plans, especially certain HMOs, do require a referral for coverage, so it's worth checking your plan or letting our front desk verify it for you.

What does a chiropractor do?

Chiropractors diagnose and care for problems of the spine, joints, muscles, and nervous system. Using gentle, hands-on adjustments and supporting therapies, we help restore movement and ease pain by addressing the root cause — not just the symptom — without drugs or surgery as the first step.

What conditions do chiropractors help with?

Common reasons patients see us include back pain, neck pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, disc problems, whiplash and auto-injury, sports injuries, and poor posture. Care can also support everyday mobility and overall wellness. After an exam we'll tell you honestly whether chiropractic is a good fit for your situation.

How is chiropractic different from massage or physical therapy?

They overlap and often work well together. Chiropractic focuses on restoring proper joint motion and nervous-system function through adjustments, massage targets soft tissue, and physical therapy emphasizes rehabilitative exercise. We combine the right mix for your goals.

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?

Yes — gentle, pregnancy-adapted chiropractic care is widely used to ease back, hip, and pelvic discomfort during pregnancy. Techniques are modified for comfort and safety at every stage; tell us you're expecting and we'll tailor your care accordingly.

Can children see a chiropractor?

Yes. Pediatric chiropractic uses very light, age-appropriate pressure to support comfort, posture, and healthy development. We tailor every visit to the child and always keep parents involved.

Once I start, do I have to keep going forever?

No. We build a plan with a real finish line. Some patients choose occasional maintenance or wellness visits because they simply feel and move better, but that's always your choice — never a requirement.
